This is the blog for the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) European and Middle-Eastern Region Communicators Conference being held in Barcelona 4-5 February 2008 - aka EuroComm Conference 2008.

The theme of the blog is Innovation through Communication, reflecting the theme of the conference. We aim to include posts by communications professionals who will be speaking at the conference as welll as articles on innovation and communication issues that will be relevant to businesses, marketeers, PR professionals and communicators.

Yang-May Ooi is a communications and social media specialist based in London. Her social media consultancy, ZenGuide (www.zenguide.co.uk) offers web-content writing, social media content creating and blog management. She is a committee member on the IABC UK Board and a member of the City Womens Network. She is co-authoring a book with business communicator Silvia Cambie on New Trends in International Public Relations, to be published by Kogan Page in 2008/ 2009. Yang-May speaks regularly on social media in the UK and overseas.

Giles Colbourne is a web usability expert and a partner at cxpartners (www.cxpartners.co.uk), a user centred design agency based in Bristol, UK. He has been making products more usable for over fifteen years. He was President of the UK Usability Professionals’ Association from 2003-2007 and speaks frequently on usability in the UK and overseas. He writes on usability for Revolution magazine and was one of the editors of the PAS 78 accessibility guide from the British Standards Institute.

Marc Wright is one of the leading practitioners in internal communication. He is former Chairman of the International Visual Communication Association and a Board Director of the International Association of Business Communicators. Previously he was Chairman and Creative Director of MCA Live and Crown Business Communication. Marc wrote and directed the BBC series Twenty Steps to Better Management and is publisher of simply-communicate.com (www.simply-communicate.com)


Kevin Keohane is Head of Brand and Employee Engagement at SAS, the corporate design and communications agency (www.sasdesign.co.uk). He is an Accredited Business Communicator and sits on the IABC UK Board ). An advocate of user-centred design and usability, Kevin co-founded both the Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) and the UK Usability Professionals’ Association (UPA). After a start in marketing and PR, he has worked internationally for a leading human capital and management consulting firm, as well as for a change management/communications agency. He has served in interim internal communication manager, brand and human resource partner roles for a number of FT250 companies. Kevin has recently been featured in Brand Strategy, Marketing Week, Communication World, and Intranet Journal among other on- and off-line publications as an expert in employee engagement and digital best practice.
